What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours?

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Amber's thoughts:
The first thing I noticed about this novel was the feel of the writing and it's originality. From the first page, I knew this was going to be a book I liked. I'd read some reviews, and I wasn't expecting much. Don't you just love it when books exceed your expectations?

I loved the setting of this book. I've always been enchanted by the idea of boarding school, but this book takes it to  a new level. The security fences, tough teachers, messed up kids, and everything about the school makes my school seem like a walk in the park. The descriptions were very vivid and captivating. The characters were fairly realistic, and I found myself laughing out loud and shivering at the devious rebels of the reform school.

Now for the part most teenage girls want to know about: the romance. Although I liked the actual story, the romance was a little disappointing. The writing style may be original, but the romance wasn't at all. The dark, mysterious guy meets the new girl and seems to hate her at first, but ends up falling for her. Sound familiar? I thought so. Having said this, there were a few new additions to the paranormal romance story, which added a bit of spice to the novel.

Overall, I would say this is one of those books where you either like it or you don't. I might have liked it, but there's no guarantee that others will. Still, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys  paranormal romance.

I said the same thing, you'll either like it or not. I didn't, but I'm glad you did. Great review.

I love this review! I thought Fallen was a great story, but I think it could have evolved so much faster. Not my favourite book this year, but still an entertaining read. :)
