In My Mailbox (9)

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by The Story Siren and inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie. It is a list of all the books that I've have received over the previous week, whether I won them, bought them, or borrowed them.

I guess you could say I went a little Nicholas Sparks crazy. I've never read any of his books, but I love the movies. I thought I'd give a couple of them a shot. I bought Dear John, and my sister bought The Last Song and A Walk to Remember. They look really good.

I also bought a copy of Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I've already read Shiver, but I loved it so much that I wanted to have my own copy. It was quite a tragic moment when I was forced to return it to the library. Now I can give the book a place of honor on my crammed shelf. :)

Prophecy of the Sisters was a surprise. I received an audio book version of the story on Tuesday from teenreads.com. Thanks guys! I'm not sure when I'll find time to listen to all eight hours of the story. I've never listened to an audio book before, but I tested it last night, and the woman's voice isn't annoying. Maybe I'll find time when I go on vacation. The two day car trip this summer should be enough time.

Nice books this week! I read and donated Shiver to my HS Media Center. So I don't have a personal copy myself. I may have to get myself one when Linger comes out. So that I can have a matched set on my bookshelves. Of course, that means I have to buy two copies of Linger - one to keep and one to donate.

I know what you mean about audio books. Why does it seem more of a commitment to listen for 8 hours than to read for 8 hours? Of course, I read faster than someone speaks so it is quicker to read a book than hear a book for me.

Happy reading (and listening)!
