Dru's life will never be normal.

Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)

Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—orwhoever— is hunting her?

Amber's thoughts:
I'll be the first to say that I'm the biggest wimp. I hate all horror movies and books. If you like horror, then I won't mind if you completely disregard this review. This book isn't strictly horror, but it has the slasher-movie feel to it. Maybe that's why I never really got into it. It wasn't that it was too scary- I just got tired of waiting for something to jump out of the shadows.

The writing was full of suspense. I never knew what was going to happen next, although I had a feeling it would be something bad. The author seems to be in a habit of repeating herself over and over again. There is quite a bit of cursing which I shuddered at occasionally, (I don't curse) but other than that, I didn't mind the style.

Dru got on my nerves every now and then. Her tough girl attitude sometimes felt a little forced. Then again, how would I know how it feels to be chased by a zombie? Nonetheless, I had a hard time connecting with her. That is probably because I'm not anything like her. Sometimes I wished she would just say what she was thinking. By covering up her feelings with rough language, Dru often comes across as unemotional. Still, I have to admit, it was pretty awesome to see the lead girl take control and kick some monster booty. :)

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Now, if your looking for a Twilight spin-off or another supernatural romance, I would advise you to steer clear. I wasn't planning on looking into the sequels, but after I read the ending, I am interested to know what happens next. Maybe I'll read Betrayals sometime.

thoughtful comments, I liked this one a lot. :)
I felt the forced toughgirlness maybe came from the fact that she pretty much wanted to curl up in a ball and sob, so she was kind of forcing herself to be tough.

I loved this book... and I loved that despite her bad ass way, when something really scary would pop out, Dru would scream like a little girl. It cracked me up =P

Great review! Thanks!
