Book #: One

A serial killer on the loose. A girl with a morbid ability. And the boy who would never let anything happen to her.

Violet Ambrose can find the dead. Or at least, those who have been murdered. She can sense the echoes they leave behind... and the imprints they leave on their killers. As if that weren't enough to deal with during junior year, she also has a sudden, inexplicable, and consuming crush on her best friend since childhood, Jay Heaton.

Now a serial killer has begun terrorizing Violet's small town... and she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Amber's thoughts:
The Body Finder is a gripping thriller that will have you reading late into the night. Not only does the suspense and overall creepiness keep you on edge, but also the adorably sweet romance. Does that not sound like an amazing combo?

Violet Ambrose is a relatable yet brave heroin. She is also a confused teenage girl struggling to cope with her new feelings for her best friend, Jay. Jay was my favorite character, hands down. Supportive, funny, and caring, this guy is everything you could possibly want in a boyfriend. Still, Jay is flawed, and that gives him a more realistic personality.

Although you would expect Violet's supernatural power to be the main focus of the story, it really was just one of the many elements that made up the plot. I have to admit, I found the ability to locate dead bodies and their murders to be very creepy. What was even more disturbing was reading the excerpts of the killer's thoughts. *shivers* Now that was scary.

Derting's debut novel was an emotionally gripping debut that had me hooked from the first chapter. Anyone who enjoys a good mystery, along with some romance and a supernatural twist, will definitely enjoy this haunting read.

Great review! I also really liked Jay, he was an awesome male character. Reading from the killers p.o.v was definitely creepy. I can't wait for the sequel.
