For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life. (taken from goodreads.com)
After hearing all of the hype about this book and having a friend tell me that "it was AMAZING," I figured it was time to pick up Hush, Hush and give it a shot. For months the book had sat on my shelf gathering dust. I really didn't know what to expect from it. I'd seen some terrible reviews and some really great ones. Now that I've finished the book, I'm siding with those who praised this dark, paranormal story.
Nora was a fabulous protagonist. Strong, witty, and relatable, she had everything I look for in a female character. I enjoyed seeing the world through her eyes and getting to know her as the story progressed. Nora's best friend, Vee, was equally delightful. Vee was the comic relief in the story. She was always armed with a hilarious comeback or sarcastic comment.
Now the moment you've all been waiting for: I'm going to talk about Patch. Dark, sexy, and mysterious Patch. I've heard girls all over the blogosphere gush over him in countless reviews. Now, please don't hate me, but I can't say that I was very impressed with him. I can see why so many girls are attracted to him, and I didn't hate him. By the end of the book, I can even say that I liked him. I just didn't fall for him right away. He was a little too dangerous and a little too mysterious for me. I spent most of the book trying to decide whether he could be trusted or not.
I definitely want to see more of Nora and Patch's world. I loved the ending to this story- it kept me creeped out and on the edge of my seat until the very last minute.Crescendo, the sequel to Hush, Hush, has an incredible amount of promise. I cannot wait until it comes out!
Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It was quite addictive, which made it a short read. Be sure to check out this gripping story of fallen angels and forbidden love. You won't regret it.
