Boys Are Better in Books: Dhiren Rajaram

"Boys Are Better in Books" aka "My book boyfriend" is hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader. This is a weekly meme in which bloggers can discuss a fictional crush. Swoon-worthy quotes and an explanation for why you chose the character are encouraged! Also, I enjoy choosing pictures that look how I imagine the character. If you want to join in this fun meme, visit Missie's blog

Alagan Dhiren Rajaram (Ren)
"The fact is... I'm in love with you, and I have been for some time."

Who he is: Ren (a character in Colleen Huock's Tiger's Curse) is a prince of ancient India who was transformed into a white tiger by an evil curse. Courageous and kind, he wants only to return to his human form permanently and to protect the girl he loves.

Age: 300+ years (looks to be in his early twenties)

Hair: Black

Eyes: Blue

Description: Seeing as he's a prince of India, he has very dark features apart from his brilliant blue eyes. His skin is tan and he is described as quite tall. His mother came from Asia, and he takes on some of her traits.

"He was taller than me by a head and had a strong, well developed trim body that was clothed in loose white garments. His long-sleeved shirt was untucked and carelessly buttoned, revealing a smooth, well-built golden-brown chest. Glossy black hair was swept away from his face and curled slightly at the nape of his neck. His eyes were what riveted me the most. They were my tiger's eyes, the same deep cobalt blue."

“Falling for him would be like cliff diving. It would be either the most exhilarating thing that ever happened to me or the stupidest mistake I’d ever make. It would make my life worth living or it would crush me against stony rocks and break me utterly. Perhaps the wise thing to do would be to slow things down. Being friends would be so much easier.”

“The dangerous one was Ren. Innocent though the white tiger he appeared to be, he was a compelling predator. Utterly irresistible -- like a Venus flytrap. So alluring, so tempting, so deadly. Everything he did was seductive and possibly hazardous to my health.”

“Perfect! Now we're being chased by hoards of monkeys! Perhaps you would care to name their species as we're attacked, just so I can appreciate the special traits of said monkey as it kills me!"

"At least when the monkeys are harassing you, you dont have any time to harass me!”

I would give pretty much anything to go live with Ren in his gorgeous Indian palace. He is everything a girl looks for in a guy- protective, loyal, beautiful, funny, the whole shebang. I highly recommend Tiger's Curse! I chose Ben Barnes to represent Ren.
